==USS Lancaster First officers log==

"We've arrived at the Alien debris field, as we initially detected there's Romulan ship wreckage along with an unidentified race, we're beginning the salvage operations of both ship types, this is proving to be interesting as the Romulan metallurgy has shown that these ships are from a period prior to twenty three sixty, as for the unidentified debris we are beginning our analysis."

==End log==

Annika and the metallurgy specialist were scanning the large hunk of the alien hull, "Ceramic composite with Chromium?" Annika said puzzled "Not very practical."

"It's a metallic type ceramic, the Chromium is likely for a corrosion inhibitor, the inner hull chunk here is a simple aluminum with a decorative anodizing fused too an alloy similar to our duranium alloys the Federation would have used maybe ten-ish years ago." the Technician said

"So this race is equal to the Federation on a technical level is a reasonable supposition at this point?" Annika said as she saw Jorel walk in "First batch of salvage is being scanned already, kind of promising."

Torin made his way to where Annika and the technician were working as he was getting some general scans in for himself. He got finished and asked the pair, "What do we have thus far?"

Annika stood upright her tricorder chattering away, "The Unknown hull fragments, are composites except for some variations almost like something the Federatiuon might be using right now, except for some anti-corrosion materials, but based on the decay of the weak radiation it's clear these have been floating in space for fourty plus years, the Romulan hull fragment over there is for sure from prior too twenty three sixty is a best guess, the salvage team says they've found a computer core and are attempting to start a download but it's taking time, the other salvage team found a hull fragment with markings that they can't decypher."

The tech spoke next "The metallurgy on the Romulan hull peice is consistant with know manufacturing practices of the Romulan empire during the estimated time as well."

Annika resumed her report "Team two is examining the more intact alien ship, they've reported a number of hull breaches that render the ship unusable beyond this examination we're engaged in."

"How much of the intact portion was left behind? While it isn't usable, I'm sure that it could tell us a lot about ship design of the Romualns of the time," Jorel asked, curious as to how much of the ship Team Two was looking at was intact. He looked back at Annika and asked, "Also, were the Romulans using the Quantum Singularity Warp Drives during this period?"

"None of the Romulan ships have active engine cores, several are flooded with radiation consistent with standard matter anti-matter engines, the other species ship has radiation contained to the areas we think are engineering, the radiation is similar to a breach in a quantum slipstream drive or similar." Annika reported "Team two has only examined areas where radiation levels are within safe limits."

"Good things to know. I was just thinking that maybe they were testing some new warp drives and that could be another reason why they were out this far. Didn't want anyone in the universe seeing what they were doing," Jorel offered, knowing how secretive the Romulans were. Looking down at where Annika was working, Jorel saw something glow for a moment, causing him to ask, "What was that?"

Annika pulled back the loose panel Jorel was pointing too, "Some kind of computer interface, network linkage....Something" she paused taking a scan "Computer related is my only guess."

Jorel pulled out his own tricorder again and started to interface with the console. It was pulling up some information, but it was locked out and it was in Romulan. He knew enough to understand it, but not enough to bypass anything. "How good is your Romulan?" Jorel asked.

"Not the greatest why?" Annika was curious now.

"Well, I'm pulling something up and it's coming up in Romulan. I'm up to date on some of my Romulan, but it's not perfect. Maybe, we could figure this out," Jorel replied, showing Annika what was coming up on his tricorder.

Annika started recording the data, "I don't recognise some of this, we'll have to get it to an expert."

"I think that I've got someone on my diplomatic team that's a little more up to date on his Romulan than I am. We can get it to them and someone in intelligence once it's fully deciphered," Jorel replied as he continued to scan everything to make sure that nothing was missed.

Annika looked at the hull fragment, "Isn't this from the wreck at zero seven two mark three?"

The specialist looked at her notes, "Yes, metals are consistent with a T'kor class destroyer."

"Enlighten me...T'kor Class Destroyer? I've not heard of that class of ship. Was it a Romulan design?" Jorel asked Annika and the specialist both.

Annika smiled "They were maybe about the size of an Akira class, much faster and well armed for their size, but they suddenly were out of service, maybe twenty three fifty five-ish, three demilitarized ones were part of a refugee convoy in twenty three eighty seven, I think the captain did the examination personally."

"So, they started going out of service right around the time that the Constellation-Class Starships went out of service. It would make sense cause I think that's when the Romulans started to build their D'deridex Class ships," Jorel replied as he started to look over all the information.

"Give or take a few years, judging by the brutality of this battle I'd say the D'Deridex were a byproduct." Annia said making a supposition, "My guess is this is also why no one saw much from the Romulans for decades."

"Yeah, they must've been hiding and testing ships out here in the dead of space, where they knew nobody would coming looking for them," Jorel replied as he raised his eyebrow and thought about it for a moment.

"Yet there's two different races ships here, so the question is who's the other side?" Annika said with concern.

"That's why it's important to get this information from the Romulan ship to the ship and translated. Maybe, it can tell us what happened and who they were fighting. Maybe, there's something in the other section too?" Jorel replied, worried about who they might've been fighting as well.

"We'll have to take a closer look." Annika replied.

Jorel was about to say something when he heard his combadge chirp to life. "Incoming message from USS Columbia. Jorel and Annika are to report to the nearest comm station for staff meeting ASAP."

Jorel looked at Annika and said, "It looks like we'll have to wait a little bit before we can go exploring that part. Looks like we're being beckoned and called back to real life a little bit."

Annika snapped out of her own train of thoughts "That's the Captain looking for an update."

"Might as well go ahead and give him that update. Plus, we can send what we have back to the ship, so that it can maybe translated too," Jorel offered up. The pair went back inside the ship and prepared for the meeting with the rest of the senior staff.
