The Gryphon Class Recon Variation has proven to be the more popular variation of the popular fighter in starfleet. Seen in limited numbers the Gryphon-R replaces some of its offensive weapons capacity for an enlarged sensor and electronic warfare suite, this includes a larger sensor package capable of both orbital and atmospheric operations from imagery too electronic missions such as listening in on communications. the recon variant maintains the vast majority of its mainline counterpart features. The recon variant has been replacing the outdated variations of older fighters currently in service.
